This course focuses on developing communication skills through speaking, listening, reading, and writing, with an emphasis on reflecting on language use. It builds upon the foundational skills acquired in previous cycles and encourages students to apply their knowledge in various contexts.

Specific Competencies:

  • Communication: Students learn to adapt their communication style to different situations and audiences, using various registers of oral and written language. They practice narration, exposition, description, argumentation, explanation, and dialogue, incorporating specific vocabulary.
  • Creative Thinking: Students explore their creative potential, connecting their ideas with those of others and enriching their creative process. They participate actively in challenging situations and recognize the aesthetic value of language.
  • Critical Thinking: Students inquire about diverse and unknown meanings, formulate questions, engage in dialogue, and justify their reasoning to construct viewpoints. They analyze different perspectives and develop arguments.
  • Scientific Thinking: Students analyze objects of study, formulate hypotheses, and express their knowledge orally and in writing to support or refute their positions using specific vocabulary.
  • Computational Thinking: Students select, analyze, and use new information to solve simple and concrete problems.
  • Metacognitive Skills: Students reflect on their learning to advance in their understanding of oral and written language. They identify and use cohesive elements in narrative, explanatory, and argumentative texts.
  • Intrapersonal Skills: Students explore and recognize their expressive possibilities to strengthen the construction of their identity in relation to others.

Content Areas:

  • Orality (Speaking and Listening): Focuses on active listening, note-taking, participating in discussions, negotiating opinions, and using appropriate language in different contexts. Students learn about direct and indirect styles in novels, reasoning schemes, and discourse markers.
  • Reading: Emphasizes autonomous reading processes, recognizing themes and forms of expression, selecting reliable digital sources, and understanding scientific articles. Students work with inferences and conceptual maps.
  • Writing: Includes producing notes, creative writing, and understanding different textual genres.
  • Grammar (Metalinguistic Reflection): Covers word categories, syntactic groups, sentence structure, verb forms, and word formation.
  • Spelling: Focuses on graphic representations of words, punctuation, and accentuation rules.

Methodological Orientations:

The program emphasizes active methodologies, such as collaborative learning, project-based learning, problem-based learning, and inquiry-based learning. Teachers are encouraged to select the methods that best suit their students' needs and learning styles. The use of portfolios for both reading and writing is recommended for ongoing feedback and self-assessment.

Evaluation:

Evaluation is continuous and formative, accompanying summative and accreditation moments. Different techniques and tools are used to gather information about student learning, allowing teachers to make informed decisions.
