Uruguay Bachillerato Diversificado - Diversification Options (Plan 2006)

The Bachillerato Diversificado (Diversified Baccalaureate) is the upper secondary education level in Uruguay, typically for students aged 16-19. The Plan 2006 structures the Bachillerato Diversificado into three years, with a common core curriculum and diversification options.

First Year (1° BD): All students follow a common core curriculum.

Second Year (2° BD): Students choose one of the following four diversification areas:

  • Humanities: Focuses on social sciences, history, literature, and languages.
  • Scientific: Emphasizes mathematics, physics, and chemistry.
  • Biological: Concentrates on biology and related sciences.
  • Art and Expression: Focuses on artistic expression through visual arts, music, and performing arts.

Third Year (3° BD): Within each diversification area, students select a specific option for further specialization. The options available depend on the chosen diversification area:
