Uzbekistan Grade 2 Curriculum - EFL (English as a Foreign Language)

Information specific to the Grade 2 EFL curriculum is limited. However, the following summarizes the broader context of EFL education in Uzbekistan:

General EFL Program in Uzbekistan:

Uzbekistan is undergoing education reform to improve English language instruction. The goal is to create a competency-based curriculum with standards, scope and sequence, textbooks, and teacher guides. This reform aims to transition Uzbekistan towards becoming an English-speaking nation. A national curriculum reform team has been established. New Uzbek Language Arts and Mathematics textbooks have been distributed for grades 1-4. Millions of new English textbooks have also been printed.

There are challenges in teaching English as a foreign language in Uzbekistan, including limited English exposure, grammatical differences between Uzbek and English, a shortage of qualified teachers, and limited resources. Efforts are being made to address these challenges, such as training programs for English teachers. The British Council has also been involved in supporting English language education in Uzbekistan.

While most public schools follow the national curriculum, some international schools, like the British School of Tashkent, use the English National Curriculum.
