Venezuela Education System Overview

The Venezuelan education system is structured as follows:

  • Basic Education (Educación Básica): 9 years (ages 5-14)
      • Primary Education: 6 years (grades 1-6)
      • Middle Education: 3 years (grades 7-9)
  • Diversified Secondary Education (Educación Media Diversificada): 2 years (ages 14-16)
  • Specialized Secondary Education (Educación Media Profesional): 2 years (ages 16-18)

Basic education is free and compulsory. Middle school in Venezuela comprises grades 7-9. The Ministry of Education (Ministerio del Poder Popular para la Educación) oversees the education system. A new Bolivarian curriculum was launched in 2007, focusing on learning to create, participate, value, and reflect.

Venezuelan Literature

While specific information on the 7th-grade curriculum is unavailable, Venezuelan literature includes renowned authors such as Andrés Bello and Rómulo Gallegos, whose novel Doña Bárbara (1929) is considered a classic.
