Vietnam Grade 10 Curriculum - Career Orientation

Curriculum Overview

The Vietnam Grade 10 curriculum marks the beginning of the career-oriented education phase, following the basic education phase (grades 1-9). This phase aims to prepare students for future career paths. Students typically enter grade 10 around the age of 15. The curriculum includes core subjects alongside a dedicated Career Orientation component. At some international schools in Vietnam, the Grade 10 curriculum may also incorporate international programs like the Ontario or Cambridge standards, in addition to the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) curriculum.

One school, Asian International School, allocates 3 periods per month, totaling 27 periods, to Career Orientation.

Career Orientation Resources

Revised career orientation materials are available for teachers of grades 10-12. These resources include career guidance theories, tests, case studies, assignments, interview sheets, and guides to facilitate content delivery to students. Learning activities designed to promote career orientation competencies in Biology have also been proposed. These activities focus on helping students explore their motivations and aptitudes, and envision their career paths.

Teacher Training

Teacher training programs are available to equip educators with the knowledge and resources to effectively teach career development concepts. One such program provides teachers with access to a Lesson Plans Library. From October onwards, teachers who complete this course gain basic knowledge of career development concepts and can utilize the Lesson Plans Library for effective teaching.
