Vietnam Grade 10 National Defense and Security Education

This course covers fundamental principles of national defense and security, basic military skills, and civil defense preparedness. The curriculum is structured into five main topics, as outlined in Section V of the National Defense and Security Education Program in upper secondary schools (Circular 46/2020/TT-BGDDT):

1. General Understandings of National Defense and Security: This topic provides a broad overview of key concepts and principles related to national defense and security. It covers the history and traditions of the Vietnamese people's armed forces, basic legal frameworks concerning national defense and security, and contemporary security challenges such as drug trafficking, traffic safety violations, cybersecurity threats, and environmental protection.

2. Squad Command: This section introduces basic military command principles and procedures at the squad level. Students learn about military management and command structures within the People's Public Security and practice individual and squad formations.

3. Infantry Combat Techniques: This topic focuses on practical combat skills, including the use of infantry weapons, explosives, and obstacle navigation. Students are introduced to grenade-throwing techniques and AK submachine gun firing techniques, along with armed running techniques.

4. Infantry Tactics: This section covers basic tactical principles and maneuvers in combat situations. Students learn about combat postures, movement techniques, utilizing terrain and objects for advantage, and basic orientation and navigation skills.

5. Civil Defense and Civilian Air Defense: This topic focuses on preparing students for emergencies and threats to civilian populations. It covers precautions against various threats, including bombs, mines, chemical and biological weapons, natural disasters, epidemics, and fire explosions. Students also learn first aid techniques and casualty transportation methods, along with basic knowledge of civilian air defense procedures.
