Vietnam Grade 10 Literature Curriculum
This curriculum aims to develop students' language and literary competencies through the study of various literary texts. It focuses on enhancing critical thinking, reading comprehension, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Students are expected to analyze and interpret literary works, understand literary history and styles, and create their own literary texts. Two textbook sets are used: "Literature 10 - Connecting Knowledge with Life" and "Literature 10 - Canh Dieu."
Learning Objectives:
- Personal Development: Fostering bravery, personality, ideals, ambitions, and an appreciation for Vietnamese cultural values, along with a sense of global citizenship.
- Reading Comprehension: Enhancing the ability to understand both explicit and implicit content of complex texts, developing critical thinking skills.
- Writing Skills: Mastering argumentative and explanatory writing, incorporating expressive methods and personal viewpoints.
- Speaking and Listening Skills: Developing flexible communication skills, including active listening, evaluation, and participation in discussions.
- Literary Competence: Distinguishing literary works from other art forms, analyzing literary language, appreciating literary styles, and creating literary products.
Specific Competencies:
- Language Competence: Applying knowledge of Vietnamese language and historical, social, and philosophical contexts to understand complex texts. Analyzing and evaluating texts, expressing personal perspectives, and writing argumentative and explanatory texts on various topics. Participating in debates and presenting scientific issues persuasively.
- Literary Competence: Analyzing and evaluating literary texts based on artistic styles and literary history. Recognizing characteristics of literary imagery, analyzing ideological content, and understanding storytelling methods. Summarizing national literary history and creating literary texts.
Assessment:
Starting from 2025, the Literature exam for Grade 10 will require students to analyze non-textbook materials, including literary texts and argumentative or informational texts. The exam structure for the 2024-2025 school year includes literature, math, and English. In Ho Chi Minh City, the 10th-grade entrance exam will include reading comprehension based on non-textbook materials, including literary texts and argumentative or informational texts. |
