Vietnam Grade 4 Vietnamese Language

The Vietnamese K–10 Syllabus (2019) was discontinued and replaced by the Modern Languages K–10 Syllabus (2022), implemented from 2024. The new syllabus provides a framework for teaching any modern language, including Vietnamese. While specific Grade 4 resources are not readily available, the overall structure and aims of the syllabus can be outlined.

Modern Languages K–10 Syllabus (2022)

The syllabus emphasizes communication as the central learning goal, focusing on three key areas:

  • Interacting: Using the language for spontaneous communication.
  • Understanding texts: Comprehending written and spoken language.
  • Creating texts: Producing written and spoken language.

These focus areas are supported by:

  • Applying knowledge of language systems: Understanding the structure of the language, including sounds, vocabulary, grammar, and writing system.
  • Developing intercultural capability: Gaining an understanding and appreciation of Vietnamese culture.

It is important to note that the implementation of the Modern Languages K–10 Syllabus is optional for Kindergarten to Year 6, but mandatory for 100 hours in Years 7-10. Schools and teachers have flexibility in adapting the framework to suit the specific needs and context of their students. Therefore, the precise content and learning outcomes for Grade 4 Vietnamese will vary depending on the school's implementation.
