Vietnam Primary School Grade 5 Mathematics Curriculum

Overview

The primary school curriculum in Vietnam covers Vietnamese language, mathematics, social studies, physical education, music, and art. Mathematics education aims to develop mathematical competence, including performing simple thinking operations, posing and answering questions, selecting calculations and formulas, using mathematical language, and using tools for math learning.

Grade 5 Mathematics Curriculum Content

The Grade 5 mathematics curriculum covers the following topics:

• Numbers and Calculations: Review of natural numbers, fractions, and operations with these number sets. Introduction to decimals, comparing decimals, rounding decimals, and operations with decimals. Ratios and percentages. Using a calculator.
• Geometry and Measurement: Observing, identifying, and describing shapes and features of simple plane and solid figures. Practice drawing, assembling, and modeling related to learned figures. Concepts of quantity and unit measurement. Practice measuring quantities, calculating, and estimating with measured quantities.
• Statistics and Probability: Collecting, classifying, and organizing data. Reading and describing statistical circle charts. Drawing data with statistical circle charts. Formulating and solving simple problems arising from existing data and circle statistical charts. Understanding proportion and probability in simple cases.
• Practical Activities and Experiences: Applying mathematical concepts to real-world situations.
