Zambia Grade 1 Creative and Technology Studies

This course integrates several learning areas, aiming to develop observation skills, attention to detail, creativity, imagination, and self-expression. It comprises four main components:

1. Home Economics:

This component introduces basic concepts related to food, nutrition, clothing, and textiles. It may cover topics such as:

  • Basic food groups and healthy eating habits.
  • Simple food preparation techniques.
  • Different types of clothing and their uses.
  • Basic textiles and their properties.

2. Music:

This component introduces basic musical concepts, including rhythm, melody, and singing. Students may learn:

  • Traditional Zambian folk songs.
  • Basic musical instruments.
  • Singing in groups and individually.
  • Identifying different musical sounds.

3. Art:

This component encourages creative expression through various art forms. Activities may include:

  • Drawing and painting.
  • Working with different art materials like crayons, paint, and clay.
  • Creating simple crafts.
  • Exploring colors and shapes.

4. Information and Communication Technology (ICT):

Although less emphasized in Grade 1, basic ICT skills may be introduced, such as:

  • Introduction to computers.
  • Basic computer operations.

These components are integrated to provide a holistic learning experience, fostering creativity and practical skills in young learners. The syllabus aims to equip students with essential life skills and prepare them for further learning in higher grades.
