Zambia Grade 11 Social Studies
This course draws upon content from the History, Civics, and Geography syllabi for Senior Secondary school. It aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of social, political, economic, and cultural factors influencing Zambia and the world. The Grade 11 syllabus builds upon the integrated Social Studies curriculum from Junior Secondary (Grades 8-9), where learners are introduced to basic concepts in history, geography, and civics. In Senior Secondary, these subjects are studied as separate disciplines, providing a deeper understanding of each area.

The Senior Secondary History syllabus emphasizes historical inquiry skills and covers Zambian and world history. Grade 11 may include topics from pre-colonial societies to the struggle for independence, as well as post-independence developments and global events. The syllabus aims to develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and an understanding of historical processes.
Civics
The Senior Secondary Civics syllabus focuses on key political, economic, social, and cultural issues relevant to Zambia. Topics covered may include governance, human rights, constitutionalism, citizenship, and political participation. The syllabus aims to develop informed and responsible citizens.
Geography
The Senior Secondary Geography syllabus covers both physical and human geography. Topics may include the environment, weather and climate, natural resources, population, and economic activities. The syllabus aims to develop spatial awareness, analytical skills, and an understanding of human-environment interactions. It builds upon the map reading and interpretation skills introduced in Junior Secondary. |
