Zambia Grade 12 French Syllabus
The Zambia Grade 12 French syllabus is part of the Senior Secondary School French syllabus implemented in 2013. It builds upon the skills developed in Grades 10 and 11, focusing on practical communication skills and cultural understanding. The syllabus aims to enable learners to engage in everyday conversations, write in various styles (narrative, expository, creative, argumentative, and situational), and understand basic French cultural aspects.
Grade 12 Topics:
- Narration (12.1): Students learn to narrate events in the present, past, and future tenses. This includes using appropriate vocabulary and grammatical structures for expressing time, sequence, and cause-and-effect relationships.
- Encounters (12.2): Focuses on initiating, maintaining, and ending conversations, using appropriate language registers for different social situations.
- Transport (12.3): Covers various modes of transportation, asking for and giving information related to travel, and understanding timetables.
- Employment (12.4): Students learn to discuss career options, apply for jobs, and conduct themselves appropriately in interviews. They also learn to interpret job advertisements.
- Democracy (12.5): Explores concepts related to democracy, human rights, gender equality, and social issues, encouraging discussion and problem-solving.
- Education (12.6): Covers the structure of the Zambian and French education systems and the importance of education.
- Health (12.7): Focuses on health systems, common diseases, disease prevention, traditional medicine, family planning, and their societal impacts.

Grade 12 Exam Format:
The Grade 12 French examination consists of two papers and a project:
- Paper 1 (Written): 2 hours, 60 points. Includes sections on reading comprehension, grammar and structure, and written expression (essay).
- Paper 2 (Oral): 40 points. Includes oral expression (reading and directed conversation) and listening comprehension.
- Project: A literary work or journal, worth 30 points.
