Zimbabwe Grade 2 Physical Education Curriculum

This curriculum covers eight key topics:

1. My Body: This topic focuses on developing an understanding of the different body parts and their functions. It may also include discussions about body image and self-esteem.

2. Safety and Health: This section emphasizes the importance of safety during physical activities and promoting healthy habits. It may cover topics such as warming up, cooling down, and appropriate clothing for exercise. It may also include discussions about nutrition and hygiene.

3. Balances: This topic focuses on developing static and dynamic balance skills through various activities. Students may practice balancing on different body parts and surfaces.

4. Locomotion/Movement: This section covers fundamental movement skills such as walking, running, jumping, hopping, skipping, galloping, sliding, and turning. Students are encouraged to combine these movements and transition smoothly between them.

5. Coordination: This topic focuses on developing hand-eye and foot-eye coordination through activities such as throwing, catching, kicking, and striking.

6. Aquatic Skills (if facilities are available): This section introduces basic water safety and survival skills. Depending on the available resources, it may also include basic swimming strokes and water games.

7. Play and Game Skills: This topic focuses on developing teamwork, sportsmanship, and social skills through participation in various games and activities. It may include traditional games, modified sports, and cooperative activities.

8. Kids Athletics: This section introduces basic track and field events such as running, jumping, and throwing. It emphasizes participation and enjoyment rather than competition.

This curriculum aims to develop physical literacy, promote healthy lifestyles, and foster a love of physical activity in young learners.
