Zimbabwe Grade 3 Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Curriculum
This curriculum introduces learners to fundamental ICT concepts and skills, fostering creativity, problem-solving, and ethical technology use. It integrates ICT across other learning areas and promotes essential life skills.
1. ICT Tools
- Types of Computers: Learners identify different types of personal computers (desktop, laptop, palmtop, tablet, smartphone).
2. Creating and Publishing
- Charts: Learners create, amend, and interpret various charts, including bar graphs and pictograms, to present information in different formats.
- Images: Learners capture images for different purposes and incorporate them into presentations.
- Database Principles: Learners create branching databases and identify objects and questions to classify data.
3. Computer Software
- Uses of Software: Learners identify ICT appliances that use software at home, school, and the workplace and describe their functions.
- Text Input: Learners create, edit, and format word-processing documents, including inserting images, text boxes, and word art.
- File Management: Learners identify and use storage devices (memory cards, CDs/DVDs, flash disks) to save and retrieve information.
- Multimedia: Learners combine text, images, and sound to create multimedia presentations. They also record and store music and voice using various tools.
4. Safety and Security
- Passwords: Learners create, remove, and change passwords.
5. The World Wide Web and Online Collaboration
- Web Pages and Search Engines: Learners navigate web pages, use search engines, and extract information from recognized educational websites.
- E-messages: Learners send electronic messages.
6. ICT Enterprise
- Data Capture Clerk and Sound Technician: Learners understand the roles of these ICT professionals.
7. Programming
- Sequence of Instructions: Learners create, edit, and modify sequences of instructions for programmable devices using visual programming tools like Turtle, Logo, or Scratch.
8. Communication and Networks (Covered in later grades)
This curriculum lays the foundation for future ICT learning, equipping learners with the skills and knowledge to navigate the digital world effectively and responsibly. |
