Zimbabwe Lower 6 Curriculum - French

Lower 6 students in Zimbabwe often study for the Cambridge International AS Level French - Language (8682) examination. This syllabus is designed for students learning French as a foreign language. The aim is to develop an ability to use the language effectively for practical communication. Students develop greater fluency, accuracy, and confidence in spoken and written French, improving their overall communication skills. They learn to use French in various situations, including reading texts, extracting information, initiating conversations, and responding to questions both orally and in writing. The syllabus is organized into five broad topic areas, providing contexts for vocabulary acquisition and the study of grammar and structure. At St George's College in Harare, the AS Level (Lower 6) assessment includes a Speaking Test, a Reading & Writing component, and an Essay. Note that the 8682 syllabus is being replaced by the Cambridge International AS Level French Language (8028) and A Level French Language & Literature (9898) syllabuses, with the first assessment in June 2025.
