Zimbabwe Form 1-4 (O-Level) Subjects
The Zimbabwean O-Level curriculum has undergone revisions, with a new heritage-based curriculum framework implemented for the 2024-2030 period. This curriculum emphasizes two main learning pathways for students in Forms 1-4: academic and vocational. Students can choose a pathway based on their interests and career goals.
Within the new curriculum, five subjects are compulsory for all learners:
- Mathematics
- English Language
- Indigenous Language
- Combined Science
- Heritage Studies (previously History)
Students can then choose up to three additional subjects, for a maximum of eight subjects in total. These choices will depend on the chosen pathway. The curriculum framework outlines five learning pathways:
1. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)
2. Visual and Performing Arts
3. Technical and Vocational Education and Training
4. Humanities
5. Commercials
The Technical and Vocational Education and Training pathway focuses on providing students with practical skills and knowledge for various trades and vocations. While a precise list of specific subjects within this pathway remains elusive, it aims to equip students for direct entry into the workforce or further vocational training.
