This course will cover
  • Electricity: understand the concept of electrons, current, battery, closed and open circuit. Understand bulbs in series and parallel and what are the advantages and disadvantages of each arrangement. Learn to draw as well as construct circuit (closed and open). Learn to infer that the components (source, load and connection could affect one another). Identify good and bad conductors of electricity. Learn to be aware of proper use, handle, and conserve electricity.
  • Water: brief introduction to 3 states of matter, understanding water exist in all 3 states. Understanding solid, liquid and gaseous states of water. Investigate the effects of heat gain or loss on the state of water. Understanding the terms Melting Point and Freezing point of water. Understanding the factors which effect the rate of evaporation. Learning water cycle, its definition and the 4 stages of the water cycle (Evaporation, condensation, precipitation and collection). Use and conservation of water and water pollution.
  • Transport systems: learning about animal and plant transport systems. How is animal and plant transport system different from each other. Compare the ways in which nutrients, water and oxygen are transported within plants and animals. Learn about the food carrying and water carrying tubes in plants. Learn about the human circulatory system (heart, blood vessels and blood). Understanding the similarities and differences between the circulatory system in plants and animals. Understanding life processes with the integration of different systems.
  • Forces: Learn about different types of forces(push, pull and combination of push and pull). Balanced and unbalanced forces. Effects of forces. Types of forces(contact and action at a distance). Elastic spring force, frictional force, gravitational and magnetic forces. Uses of force.
