Having money skills is important because children must understand the VALUE of money and how they can create the same amount using different bills and notes. This helps them prepare for the real world and have concrete understanding of how much things cost. It also makes them appreciate math and its application in real life settings. It develops analytical thinking by solving real world word problems.

Objectives:
  1. The student will learn to decide if a problem will be solved with an apparatus or can be solved mentally.
  2. The student will learn to make use of appropriate mental strategies to solve math problems.
  3. The student will understand the concept of one half.
  4. The student will recognise and count coins/notes
  5. The student will make use mental strategies to solve simple problems set in money context.
  6. The student will learn to recognise coins and bills.
