Julian Yon has created his own English course for beginner level students. The course is designed around familiar topics and focused on the skills needed to communicate effectively in English through listening, speaking, reading and writing. The course focuses on vocabulary, grammar and functional language. The materials contain realistic everyday situations to bring learning to life. The student will learn English in an interactive and dynamic way.
This course will cover:
  • A full range of topic areas relevant to the student's life (greetings, people, family, colors, animals, parts of the body, household rooms and objects, daily actions, and food)
  • Giving personal information
  • Using Definite and Indefinite Articles (The / A / An)
  • Positive, negative, and question forms of the verb tenses (is/isn't)
  • Prepositions of place
  • Singular and plural nouns
  • Basic phrasal verbs (get up/pick up/sit down)
  • Present Simple: The use of the present simple for describing everyday routines
  • Speaking practice (pronunciation practice, exchanging personal information and expressing likes and dislikes)
  • Interactive worksheets which provide plenty of opportunities for putting the new words and expressions into practice
  • Vocabulary-building around familiar topics (high frequency words and phrases)
  • Basis writing skills
  • Useful English expressions
  • Controlled and free practice of the target language
You can expect your child to:
  1. Describe simple actions that he/she does daily
  2. Speak in full, meaningful sentences
  3. Talk about food that he/she likes and dislikes
  4. Form questions around familiar topics
  5. Understand and use very frequently used everyday expressions as well as simple phrases to meet immediate needs.
  6. Introduce him/herself and others
  7. Ask and answer questions about personal details such as where he/she lives, things he/she has and people he/she knows
  8. Experiment with the new language acquired
  9. Can recognize basic action words (e.g., 'clap', 'stamp', 'jump', 'walk').
  10. Demonstrate understanding of a word by matching it to a picture.
  11. Recognize some familiar words related to themselves and their family (e.g., 'girl', 'brother').
