Air dried clay is a unique medium that can be used in many art projects because of its versatile characteristics. It can coiled, pinched, scored, and can also be used as modelling clay. Unlike traditional clay that needs to be fired in a kiln, air dried clay does not require any form of heat, and can harden at normal room temperature.

OBJECTIVES
  1. Students will be introduced to air dried clay and its properties through a hands-on experience.
  2. They will learn about Elements of Art and Design, specifically on lines, shapes, colours and texture
  3. They will then be given the opportunity to put theory into practice by creating a variety of artworks over the course of ten weeks.
Special consideration has been acknowledged to the varying needs of the participants in the class, and the materials chosen will allow the participants to explore and enhance their skill sets without compromising on their safety. Scaffolding and support will also be provided by the trainer.

Teacher Kethlyn

Teacher Kethlyn has a degree in Law from the National University of Singapore and a diploma in Early Childhood Education. Kethlyn started as an early childhood educator in a school for children with learning disabilities. Since then, she has conducted workshops in various MOE schools, Special Education Schools, and other institutions like the Girls's home and prisons. Teacher Kethlyn is NAC-AEP (National Arts Council-Arts Education Programme) certified to teach visual art programs to youths with disabilities. She is also MOE registered under AMIS (Art and Music instructor scheme) and she is also PAL (Program for Active Learning) certified. She holds a certificate in Speech and Drama from London Teaching Training College. Teacher Kethlyn is a dedicated and caring teacher with 9 years of teaching experience.
